American cuisine

American cuisine remains a favorite food recipe among many food connoisseurs. The term generally is American cuisine but food on this continent is composed of meals from different cultures.  It is the diversity of American cuisine that gives its strength and appeal.  From desserts, to soups, stews, steaks, muffins or seafood, cuisine in this country follows a  pattern and its typical related to which part of the country. Usually, southern food are spicy and feature lots of seasoning whilst the north has plain food.

The American South is the perfect location for a remarkable food journey since it is vast, diverse, and connected by miles of open road. Its rich history and ongoing creativity may be found throughout its vast territory, which stretches from the Appalachian Mountains to the Louisiana wetlands. Furthermore, it is the only place where native flavors and ingredients blend harmoniously with history, culture, and identity. ORIGINS

Immigrants from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and other European nations introduced their food recipes to the South and shaped its food from the twentieth century onward. In Nashville’s Little Kurdistan, one of the biggest Kurdish communities in the country, southern cuisine has evolved into kebabs. Greek eateries can be found throughout Alabama, and Ethiopian eateries can be found adjacent to Salvadoran pupuserías in Virginia.

CULTURIZATION

With their enormous success, chains that serve Southern foods—often combined with American comfort food—have expanded nationwide or internationally, with some opting to remain in the South. In contrast to the rest of the nation, the majority of the rural South boasts locally owned pit barbecue restaurants, many of which serve the local style of barbecue rather than the nationally recognized Kansas City style. Barbecue is a popular cuisine throughout the American South. The South is home to a large number of family-style restaurants that serve Southern cuisine, ranging in class from the modest and down home to the very affluent.

Mexican food entered the United States through a variety of channels as it developed in Mexico. Mexican immigrants started to settle in the US southwest in the late 19th century, bringing their distinctive cuisine and flavors with them. However, Mexican food did not become more accessible across the nation until the 20th century. Mexican eateries started to appear in big cities like Los Angeles and San Antonio in the 1920s. These eateries first catered to working-class and immigrant patrons, but they soon became well-known and started drawing patrons from all walks of life. The blending of traditional Mexican recipes with American ingredients and cooking techniques gave rise to Tex-Mex cuisine in the 1950s.

INFLUENCES FROM MEXICO

One of the primary ways that students can observe how different cultures are incorporated into their community is through food. Many students fail to see the connection or the fact that many of the meals that were brought to our country many years ago were brought by immigrants who traveled to many different places and took with them their customs and culinary traditions from their home countries. The majority of kids don’t know about the variety of Latino cuisine alternatives in the Richmond community and think that Latino food only means Taco Bell.

The ethnic restaurants are located in a region of the city that my students and their families do not usually visit, and the majority of students are unable to distinguish between true Latino food and Americanized Mexican food. Students discover that these immigrants arrive in the US for a variety of reasons, such as the necessity to flee a civil war or the desire for better prospects. We can see the effect of their arrival, since they brought with them a small portion of their heritage to this nation.

SETTLERS BRING IN THEIR FOOD

Humans have always traveled across country lines and settled down. They carry their traditional food with them as they relocate. Similar to the culture itself, such recipes adjust and transform when placed in a new setting, in this example, the Mexican and Mexican American populations in Southern California. With the invention of the “combo plate,” chefs modified their recipes to fit American palates for hearty portions of food and the ingredients that were readily available in the country. This development is a result of the creation of a mass-produced Mexican meal for the American market, which led to the establishment of “Mexican” eateries all across the nation.
