Spaghetti squash
Teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
Sprinkle of salt and pepper
PREPARATION
The walls of spaghetti squash are thick and can be challenging to cut through. You will need a sturdy, non-slip cutting board and a sharp chef’s knife. To keep your cutting board in place, set it on a kitchen towel or paper towel that has been slightly moistened.
The secret is to level the surface so that you may securely cut through the squash. First, place the squash on the cutting board in a horizontal position. Using your non-dominant hand, firmly hold the squash in place. It is important to keep your hand a few inches away from the area you will be slicing since we will be cutting off the tip-top and bottom edges. Use a sharp chef’s knife in your dominant hand to cut off the top. Rotate the squash 180 degrees, then cut off the bottom.
To create a solid posture for slicing, turn the squash upright and place its widest end against the non-slip cutting board. Scoop from the top and cut down. Never place your hands below a knife or in a dangerous situation.
Oven cooking is the ideal method for cooking spaghetti squash. This simple procedure ensures delicious, precisely cooked squash that never gets soggy. First, brush the insides of the squash halves with melted butter or olive oil, and then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
