The future of food may be more surprising than you thought

In 20 to 30 years, your favorite foods will probably appear very different from what they do now. In general, it is anticipated that the culinary environment would alter significantly over the next few decades, not just as a result of shifting eating habits and attitudes. There are still far too many hungry people in the world, despite a dramatic decrease in global poverty over the previous few decades.

Will we soon generate meat in labs and salad in skyscrapers? Perhaps, but something must change. Our planet is already struggling, and by 2050, nine billion people will likely need to be nourished. Up to 40% of all cropland worldwide is affected by overgrazing, declining fertility, and soil erosion, making agriculture a serious threat to lakes, rivers, and coastal ecosystems. As our environment changes, so will the ways in which we cultivate our food. Fortunately, many people are working to find ways to provide more palatable and nourishing food while preserving the environment.

Promising new methods of fish farming are based on giant tanks. Waste, water, and nutrients are recycled—sometimes to grow plants—and fish cannot escape. Natural supplies that have been drastically depleted as a result of overfishing may be less stressed thanks to these methods. Furthermore, closed-system fish farms do not have the same environmental problems as some cage or pen fish farms, which use more wild fish for feed and may lead to pollution and disease. In the future, when it will be required to solve multiple problems at once, customers will have today food recipes options. After all, eating fulfills social and emotional needs in addition to providing nourishment.
